Memphis loses Mack for next season?

Memphis guard Doneal Mack reportedly will be leaving the Tigers because he wants to see more playing time. He averaged 12.5 minutes per game last season for the Tigers, which was down from 14.2 minutes per game the previous season.

His father told the Commercial Appeal that they feel now is the time to leave the Tigers while Mack has two seasons of eligibility left.

Mack saw a sharp decline in playing time during the NCAA tournament. He only played 2 minutes in the championship game.

His father, Greg, said his son is interested in transferring to LSU, Wake Forest, or Clemson.

Big Loss For Indiana

The Indiana basketball program took another big hit today when Jordan Crawford announced he will not be returning to the team for the 2008-09 season.

Crawford was a standout Freshman last year who averaged 9.7 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.

It looks like the Hoosiers will be in rebuilding mode for the next several years. It will take some strong recruiting from Crean and his staff to return this program to being one of the top in the nation.

UCLA G Shipp will play senior year

Shipp will return to UCLA for his final year as a Bruin. He had previously declared himself eligible for the NBA draft, but did not hire an agent so he would have the opportunity to return to UCLA. I believe it was a good move for Shipp to play his senior year as a Bruin. It will give him another year to improve his game. If he proves that he can remain healthy then he has the possibility of being a middle first round pick next year instead of a late first or early second round pick that he most likely would have been this year.

Alma Mater Jumping to D-I

SIU-Edwardsville not to be confused with SIU-C just announced that they are joining the Ohio Valley Conference. They will start playing regular season games in the 2011-2012 season.

I went to SIU-E for 3 years (2001-2004), and I can attest that the basketball program was nothing to get excited about. I went to one game and was bored out of my mind. I had seen several high school games that were more exciting and seemed to have more skilled players on the floor.

Pitt assistant Antigua going to Memphis

Maybe he can bring some of the hard nose basketball that they play at Pitt and in th Big East over to Memphis. It seems that Memphis is always too soft and not focused enough on defense.

I know it has been said many times, but I will say it again, "defense wins championships."

Finding Undiscovered College Talent

Check out this video on some of the undiscovered talented players in college basketball that have a chance to make an impact on the 2008 NBA Draft.

Highly regarded C Morgan to attend UCLA

Another big man for UCLA. I guess since Love decided to leave for the draft Morgan might get some quality pt as a freshman. Could be why he decided to go to UCLA; everybody wants to be a star now and not have to wait a year.
