Brandon Jennings Passes on Arizona

Brandon Jennings would have probably been a top 10 draft pick this year, but the NBA does not let players fresh out of high school go straight to the NBA. The idea is to make players experience at least one year of college basketball.

Well the AP reports that Brandon Jennings is going a different route, one that involves Europe. And no, he will not be taking a year off to go backpacking through the Swiss Alps.

Brandon Jennings had committed to playing at Arizona, but did not pass the college entrance exam the first two times. Jennings was waiting on results from his third test when he decided to announce that he would not be playing for the Wildcats. Instead he presumably will play a year of pro basketball in Europe.

This is just another example of how stupid the NBA is with their rules, and how they do not work. They need to stop treating players like little kids, and let them make decisions for themselves. At least Jennings will be getting paid to play basketball for his year of waiting.

The other high school seniors that would have been drafted will have to settle for fancy sports cars, and under the table cash from college boosters.
