Kansas G Henry transfers to NAIA school (AP)

Guard C.J. Henry has transferred from Kansas to Southern Nazarene University in the NAIA. The Oklahoma City school announced Friday that Henry was one of three players transferring in from Division I schools. Henry was the New York Yankees' first-round pick in the 2005 draft but returned to playing basketball after three years and signed with Memphis.

Weber: Illini could be 'very, very good' (AP)

Jeff Grayer is leaving his job as an administrative assistant to Iowa State basketball coach Fred Hoiberg, saying he wants to return home to Michigan to be closer to his family. Grayer, the Cyclones career scoring leader, was hired as an assistant coach by former head coach Greg McDermott last spring.

LSU PG Spencer transfers to Nebraska (AP)

Point guard Bo Spencer is transferring to Nebraska after having been declared academically ineligible at LSU. Spencer would have been LSU's top returning scorer this season, with 14.5 points a game, but coach Trent Johnson announced in May that Spencer would be ineligible. Spencer averaged 11.4 points in 2008-09 as LSU won the Southeastern Conference championship and made the NCAA tournament.

Virginia Commonwealth University men's basketball head coach Shaka Smart has signed a two-year contract extension. The school announced the deal Wednesday. The NCAA's executive committee has approved cost-cutting changes in the drug-testing program. Future repeat tests will focus on sports and athletes at higher risk and eliminate the advance notice given to those schools and individuals facing additional tests.
