The Georgetown Hoyas, ranked number 9, pulled off a moderate upset of number 2 ranked UConn. The Big East should be a tough conference this year, and the Hoyas appear ready to make their mark early. |

Number 4 ranked UCLA barely survived a defensive battle against Miami (OH) in the 2K Sports tournament. If you like defense then this was your kind of game; both teams combined to score only 123 points. |

I was on the edge of my seat last night watching the score updates from the UCLA, Prairie View A&M game. UCLA narrowly escaped with a 24 point victory. Is it December yet? I just glanced at the college basketball schedule, and it looks like the first match up of Top 25 teams takes place on December 2nd when Duke plays Purdue. Somebody just wake me up when November is over. |

There was no early upset for the Duke Blue Devils, and the only question was whether they would break 100 in last night's game against Georgia Southern. The Blue Devils played superb basketball last night and answered almost every attack that Georgia Southern made. The Duke boys completely dominated the game as if they possessed that one card that trumped all of Georgia Southern's poker hands. |

The Coaches vs Cancer tournament kicks off next Monday at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Look for a couple of boring early season games. Duke takes on Presbyterian, which has us wondering if it is just one church or the entire denomination. Last year the Presbyterian Blue Hose won 5 games in their first season as a Division I school. The other game on Monday feature Houston and Georgia Southern. |

The Memphis Tigers are ranked No. 2 in both preseason polls. We feel it will be a struggle for the Tigers to make a run at the Final Four again without Derrick Rose. They should roll through the fairly weak Conference USA again, but unless they are able to play tough defense look for an early tournament exit. |

Georgia Tech center, Ra’Sean Dickey, has decided to leave college and play basketball in the Ukrainian Super League. Now, not only do college basketball teams have to worry about losing their star players to the NBA, but the Ukrainian Super League seems to be a better option than spending four years in college. |

Can you say repeat? If the Jayhawks hope to make another run at the national championship, it is going to be with a different set of players. Five Jayhawks were drafted this year, which means Bill Self has his work cut out for him. Look for the Jayhawks to be a solid team this year, but they still have a lot of question marks. Then again, who doesn't. |

The Duke Blue Devils look to be back for the 2008-09 college basketball season as one of the top teams. After a disappointing early exit from the 2008 Final Four tournament look for coach K to have his team back on track. Duke will be without Demarcus Nelson this upcoming season, but will return a strong, experience backcourt. The Blue Devils should finish second in a tough ACC conference and advance to at least the elite 8 this year. |

CBS has recently announced that Billy Packer will be replaced with Clark Kellog as their lead college basketball analyst. Billy Packer was the voice of the Final Four and had done every tournament since 1975. That is quite a run. While I am sure many people will be disappointed or even furious at CBS, I am glad for Clark Kellogg to get his opportunity. He has put in the time at the network, and deserves this chance to be in the spotlight. This change has apparently been in the works for at least a year, and Packer was very gracious about it. |
